How to Search for a Warrant in Rutherford County
RCSO does not publish a public criminal-warrant search. Its Criminal Warrants page tells a person checking their own status to bring identification to the Warrants lobby; phone confirmation is not offered. For a known case, contact the court that set it.
Keep your legal name, date of birth, citation or case number, issuing agency, and court date nearby. Short first step: match the court.
- For a possible unserved RCSO criminal warrant in your own name, bring government ID to the Sheriff’s Warrants lobby at 940 New Salem Highway. The tip line is not a status line.
- For General Sessions Criminal, call 615-898-7831; for a felony moved to Circuit Criminal, call 615-898-7812.
- For a city citation, use the issuing clerk or the Smyrna citation portal. City records do not all feed one county list.
- Request a specific served or releasable record through the correct office if it is not online. Ask for inspection or a copy and describe dates and identifiers.
- Tennessee has no public statewide warrant-name search. Ask the issuing court or a lawyer how to verify and resolve the matter.
Rutherford County Warrants Lobby Check
The Sheriff’s published instruction is specific: carry identification to the Warrants lobby for a personal status check. The public page does not name a phone self-check, web form, or 24-hour counter. Lobby hours are listed as 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, but separate surrender and bond-window hours were not located.
The Warrants and Records Division handles records routing at 615-898-7777. Its linked request form is for records, not a public active-warrant roster.
The Sheriff's Warrants and Records page describes the separate records desk.

Rutherford County Warrant Search Fields
No public RCSO criminal search form was located. The table shows the inputs that do exist across local routes, not fields on one unified portal. Smyrna’s system is a citation search and payment tool.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government ID | In person | RCSO instruction | Used at the Warrants lobby for a personal check. |
| Citation number | Portal or clerk | Not stated | Smyrna accepts it; other city clerks can use it to locate a case. |
| Name and DOB | Clerk or Smyrna portal | Not stated | Use your own details; no countywide criminal form was found. |
| License and state | Smyrna portal | Not stated | Citation route only; not a warrant coverage guarantee. |
| Record type and date | TPRA / RCSO form | Needed to identify file | Describe an existing report or court record, not a list to be created. |
Smyrna Citation Search Fields
Smyrna’s city-linked portal accepts citation number, driver-license number with state, SSN with date of birth, plate with state, name with date of birth, or business name. The public capture does not say those fields are required. Its result details and update pace were not documented.
Open the Smyrna municipal citation portal only for a citation question. It is not Rutherford County’s criminal-warrant search. The portal is one route among several.

Use the issuing clerk when a portal does not show the case or the result needs a status explanation.
Rutherford County Warrant Search Results Need Context
A court or citation result may identify a case, court, offense, assigned date, payment status, or FTA indicator. RCSO has no public criminal-warrant result page, so do not assume a city portal displays an arrest warrant or a bond amount.
| Warrant or case ID | Use the number on the official notice; no local public number pattern was found. |
|---|---|
| Charge / Offense | Read the court’s wording and ask the clerk what it means for the case. |
| Issuing Court | Shows which clerk controls the case and next setting. |
| Bond Amount | Case-specific; no countywide criminal schedule was located. |
| Status | Confirm active, served, recalled, or paid with the record holder. |
Why a Rutherford County Search Can Miss a Warrant
A missing result can mean the record is unserved, sealed, juvenile, newly issued, held by another court, or not included in the product searched. The Sheriff says its unserved arrest warrants are not public. A blank portal result is not a clearance.
For a served incident, request the existing file from RCSO or the court. Its form says active investigations are withheld and asks for a valid ID. Ask the office which records it maintains before sending a request.
Where Rutherford County Warrants Are Checked
RCSO handles service and an in-person personal check; General Sessions Criminal handles county and THP tickets and early criminal matters; Circuit Criminal keeps felony and grand-jury files. Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, and Eagleville each keep city citation records.
Tennessee has law-enforcement databases for authorized users, but no single public statewide warrant-name portal. An official Circuit Court Clerk route or the court listed on a citation can identify the right docket.
Rutherford County Clerk Routes
Contact the clerk for the court that set the case. General Sessions Criminal is at the Judicial Center, 116 W. Lytle Street, Room 102, and answers county traffic and misdemeanor routing at 615-898-7831. Circuit Criminal uses the same room and has a separate number, 615-898-7812.
The Circuit Clerk page lists its divisions. The source does not promise that one clerk can certify another court’s status.
The Circuit Clerk page identifies the division contacts.

Access and Restricted Warrants
The Tennessee Public Records Act covers existing public records, with statutory exceptions. It does not require an office to create a countywide list. RCSO separately says unserved arrest warrants are not public; juvenile and sealed records have other limits.
For a court document, the Tennessee courts’ clerk finder points to the office that holds the file. A third-party result cannot override a clerk’s current record.
Key Rules:
RCSO says an unserved arrest warrant is not public and will not be confirmed by telephone.
Tenn. Code Ann. § 37-1-154 generally restricts juvenile law-enforcement records from public inspection.
A record may also be sealed, under investigation, or held by another court; no search result proves that no warrant exists.
Rutherford County Warrant Requests Must Name One Record
A Tennessee Public Records Act request works best when it identifies a record the agency already keeps, such as a dated incident report, a citation file, or a specified court document. The county form does not require someone to create a new countywide warrant roster. For a Sheriff's Office record, provide the date range and identifiers that help staff locate the file; active investigations may be withheld.
RCSO says it responds within seven business days, which is a reply period rather than a guarantee that the record will be produced by then. Use recordsrequest@rcsotn.org or the Sheriff's form for that request. A public-record request is not the channel for confirming an unserved warrant against yourself.
